Room to Grow by Inka Eismar

RIBA Silver Medal Commendation for ESALA graduate

Inka Eismar was recognised for 'Room to Grow', a project layering residential, industrial and garden space, which aimed to build community ties.

The suit, made of lace, hangs from the ceiling of an exhibition space. Either side of it are sheets of lace, the one on the left with a pattern of lines and diamonds, the one on the right much more traditional.

'Loom to Form', centre, flanked by 'Zellige' and 'Lydia Lace', showcased at Arizona State University, Phoenix.

The garment, created by Programme Director of Fashion, Professor Mal James, uses bespoke lace from Ayrshire firm MYB Textiles, and was recently showcased in a prestigious exhibition in the US.

The winning design aims to tackle challenges experienced by elderly individuals when playing traditional wind instruments.
